Spurgeon: Would you “bleed Bible?” — Knowing God through His Word … Day by Day

Leigh's avatarAll You Need is Jesus

Very good read by Pam Larson!

Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge, for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips. That your trust may be in the Lord, I have made them known to you today, even to[…]

Goodness

Riverside Peace's avatarRiverside Peace

For the Lord is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. – Psalm 84:11 (NIV)

Do you find yourself at times focusing on how you messed up rather than the emphasis on the goodness Jesus gives? I know I do and sometimes I despair over what I don’t have and forget to look at just what He has provided.

Reading a verse like this one in Psalm 84 certainly is a wake-up call. His provision is perfect and His possibilities are endless. He is doing new things, great things, every moment of every day of our lives.

James 1:17 says: Every goodand perfectgiftis fromabove, comingdown from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Today, will you join me and reach out and to grab every opportunity?

To understand the history of God’s salvation, we must remember this: Christ will come again.

charlie's avatarLearning From God's Word

Job 38:1-40:2; Matthew 24:32-25:13; Psalm 18:37-42

The story of our life is only understood once we see the full picture. The book of Job is not understood by reading the words of Job and his ‘comforters’. We must also hear the Word of the Lord. The history of God’s salvation is not understood by reading only about Christ’s first coming. We must look on to His Second Coming. Concerning that Coming, we might imagine Jesus Christ speaking to the Father in the words of the Psalmist: “You armed me with strength for battle; You humbled my adversaries before me” (Psalm 18:39; see also Philippians 2:9-11 and 1 Corinthians 15:24-28).

The welcoming voice!

Even though I’m Scottish I have to admit that I just love Welsh male voice choirs ant the song below has to be one of my favourites.

John 10 25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[c]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

I just love the words written by  Lewis Hartsough where verse one talks of thy cleansing blood flowing on Calvary.

Verse two we are called to perfect faith and love and hope, peace and trust. In verse three we are asked to be loyal for our promises to be fulfilled

Even At My Worst

Leigh's avatarAll You Need is Jesus

I heard this song, “Even At My Worst” by Blanca the other day for the first time.

I know I’ve “heard” this song before….driving with the radio on and I’m sure it’s played but I wasn’t “listening.”

Until the other day when God opened my ears and I LISTENED to the words.

If I’m being honest
I didn’t think You’d stay with all my problems
I was so afraid that when you saw them
You would turn your back on me and leave
‘Cause in the silence
My insecurities are like a siren
Taking over me, and I can’t hide them
Even then you see the best in me that I can’t see

Even at my worst, you love me
You wrap your arms around and you hold me close
Even at my worst, you give something I don’t deserve
You love me even at my worst

Blanca, “Even at…
