For us who have accepted Christ as our Savior, we have Jesus living inside us. Knowing this, we have cause for great celebration with the Lord, for His spirit is powerful, just and righteous. No evil is too great that it can overtake us. No power is too strong that it can overwhelm us. And […]
Matthew 5:13-16 New International Version – UK (NIVUK)
Salt and light
13 ‘You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 ‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Last night I was at a fundraising concert where the band played an arrangement of this lovely Joy Webb song. The piece was rightfully received with the spirit it should (not a soul clapped at the end).
The video and words of the song reminds us that we have to be a Candle for the Lord and try to remain strong in this troubled world of ours.
If you would like to listen to the arrangement the band played it’s on YouTube arranged by Peter Graham.
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
I,m sure you’ve heard of the saying ‘ Don’t worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself’ because as it implies we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
What does the future hold for you next year? I know what the immediate future holds for me because i’m about to become a grandparent in January something i’m quite looking forward too (especially the part where you can hand baby back to parents.)
On a different note it’s our Corps (Salvation Army church’s) 25th anniversary in 2018 and we have a series of events going on throughout the year which will take us through to next December when we will have our big Celebration.
Finally let us not forget that Jesus is our ‘Future and our Past’

On the trail that day, in the wind, where the oak leaves whisper, shadows of wings covered him, from the sky… yet he was never afraid, even with the distant sounds of singing, of chanting and drums, he noticed shadows shifting, so he stopped with a poem nearing its creation. Sitting on a large rock […]

Your mercy called me to Your cross for pardon from my sin. Your grace then gifted me new life and love and joy within. Your mercy took my punishment. Your grace gave my heart peace. Mercy cleansed and made me whole. Grace let my wandering cease. In mercy’s grip, You shed Your blood […]
In life, we learn that the best way to see people rise is to raise the expectation level. People will do as expected, but not often beyond. If we continually call one another to our identity as saints in Jesus, it will call us to a life that reveals more and more of Christ in us.
I am…Redeemed! “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1:7 NIV Webster defines redeemed as: Verb Compensate for the faults or bad aspects of (something): “a disappointing debate redeemed by an outstanding speech”. Do something that compensates for poor past performance or behavior. The […]
