The time … my toddler had surgery

elliethecrunch's avatarEllie the Crunch

So apparently my toddler was born with something called a dermoid cyst.

I noticed it only when he was 2 (not 2 months, 2 years old!). I was looking at him and noticed a small lump by his inner eye.

I started researching up and right, asking on line. It was in the middle of the pandemic and we had a Zoom visit with his pediatrician who dismissed it as a clogged tear duct or a stye.

I wasn’t satisfied. I knew it was neither.

I researched and researched and researched for weeks till I found something that looked similar. It was called dermoid cyst.

I found a small Facebook group dedicated to this subject and I joined it.

I quickly learned that dermoid cysts usually are formed in the womb from extra skin and hair tissues and they mostly present as a pit in the middle of the nose.

I love experimenting with poetic forms especially when there is a liberty to play with words. Because I find it hard to go with the technicalities of the pattern.

And I have flubbed up Sedoko into tanka. So have I rectified it later. But to go with the structural aspect of poetry is very important.

Today’s Poetry form is Cinquain and I am delighted to share few of the very popular Cinquains which are chosen among the most.

A Cinquain is a nifty five-line poem inspired by Japanese Haiku. It was invented by Adelaide Crapsey. She was an American poet who took inspiration from Japanese Haiku.

By George Harbert

Here is my take on Cinquain poetry form. Hope you like it friends.

Thanks for the beautiful read friends. Your views and comments are much appreciated.

Much love and gratitude.

A Quiet place

2 Corinthians 7; 5

For when we came into Macedonia, we had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn—conflicts on the outside, fears within. 6 But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, 7 and not only by his coming but also by the comfort you had given him. He told us about your longing for me, your deep sorrow, your ardent concern for me, so that my joy was greater than ever.

We all need to find a quiet place from time to time to get away from the turmoil’s and conflicts of daily life. This can be easier said than done sometimes (especially if you have a busy life). Some people find it easy first thing in the morning before they go about there daily tasks where as others like myself may find it easier last thing at night when going to bed to have that quiet moment & reflect.

Helping Friends

In Scotland we have a saying ” When we are going up to the hill of fortune may we ne’er meet a friend coming down“.

Ideally we, and our friends, would travel up the hill together. But surely times of improved fortune are ideal to meet others whose life has taken a downturn, so we can help them back up.

What is the point in climbing the hill in the first place if not for the opportunity it gives us to help our friends.

Marijuana has won…

Phylis Feiner Johnson's avatarEpilepsy Talk

It’s more than time. The jury is no longer out. States have been weighing in. And the answer has been a resounding : “Yes”.

It’s a massive shift that took place over just a few years.

A decade ago, no states allowed marijuana for recreational use; the first states to legalize cannabis in 2012, Colorado and Washington, did so through voter-driven initiatives.

Now, 17 states and Washington, DC, have legalized marijuana (although DC doesn’t yet allow sales), with five enacting their laws through legislatures, showing even typically cautious politicians are embracing the issue.

Hear me more. Says your body.
Your health can speak in many ways.
Disease is the annoy expressed by your body. Sometimes we ignore our body and mental health.

Today’s poetry form is Soliloquy.

A Soliloquy is a monologue in which a character speaks to himself or herself, expressing the inner feelings that the audience might not otherwise know. Soliloquy is not considered a poem, but witnessing them in most of the Shakespeare's plays can blend them into a poetry form.

Soliloquy reveals the character of an individual. Popular soliloquy of Romeo Juliet play speaks her loud thoughts when she comes to know that Romeo, is the son of her family’s enemy.

At times every individual needs that liberty to speak his thoughts aloud. Feelings are vented out to unchain from the mental blockage.

A soliloquy or a monologue is…
