Some of you may know that I attend The Salvation Army and sing in the local choir ( in the Army they are referred to as Songsters).
For as long as I care to remember it has been customary either during or at close of practice. The devotional period is usually about ten minutes and consist of a thought/bible reading and prayer
Our practice is on a Thursday night and last nights thought was about “When you think someone doesn’t care they actually do”
Here is the words and music of two retired Generals John Gowans and John Larsson of The Salvation Army.

I suppose you could say this is part 2 of yesterday’s blog “God’s Creation” .
The Bible and this video gives us this wonderful image of heaven. A place where there are no wars, no evil. Everything is peaceful. I think the words of the above song are very fitting.

I know he cares for me, for me, I know he cares for me, for me; I’ll trust my Father in Heaven For I know that he cares for me.
There are verses to the chorus above with the 1st verse starting with Have you heard the glad news of the Gospel but unfortunately I couldn’t find it.
However I think the words sung by Boscombe Singing Company (junior choir) of The Salvation Army are quite clear.

This song was written by Salvation Army musicians John Gowans and John Larsson. It is a popular song for school assemblies and Sunday schools. Although it is a light-hearted melody, the lyrics are a strong reminder that God knows each one of us personally and by name.
I remember singing this song as a Singing Company member (junior choir in Salvation Army) and that was many moons ago. These heartfelt lyrics offer a profound reflection on the essence of Christianity and leading people to Christ. As Christians, we often contemplate what we can offer, especially when faced with challanges and limitations. Just like the shepherds and the wise men who presented their humble gifts, we too, can find purpose in giving our hearts as leaders. This means leading with genuine care, empathy and selflessness, providing with the best of ourselves and guiding with commitment.
Prayer
Father, as we meditate on these words we recognise the significance of giving our hearts as Christians. Help us to lead with care, empathy & selflessness. May we offer our time, attention and support to help others flourish and succeed. Lord, may our heartfelt dedication inspire trust & loyalty among those around us. Guide us to lead with humility & gracereflecting your love and compassion. Amen
Early this morning I was contacted by someone that runs a prayer network to do a bible reading and devotion, so here we go.
I eventually came up with the following reading
He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40:11 because Our good Shepherd gathers us in his arms and carries us “in his bosom,” a picture of intimacy and closeness and deep care, and he gently leads us.
I can testify to the fact that God does care for us at all times from joy to sadness.
As I write this I am thinking of the troubles in Afghanistan. I pray for Gods hand in that situation
Finally in the video we are reminded that God cares for us in a special way!

18 Loners who care only for themselves spit on the common good.

(WOMEN) What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! (ALL) O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. (MEN) Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer. (ALL) Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer. (ALL) Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Saviour, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he’ll take and shield thee; thou shalt find a solace there.
