God’s magic 8/29

gracefuladdict's avatarThe daily addict

There is no other way to describe what I just experienced.

Coincidence, miracle, synchronicity, divine timing…it is gods magic.

I went to the memorial of a friends daughter yesterday. My friend Laura’s 22 year old daughter Alex, tragically and suddenly passed away 3 years ago on August 28th.

The exact moment that I heard she passed via phone call – a soft white feather slowly and gently was floating in front of my window. I was in shock.

Now it is 3 years later and a beautiful Sunday morning and we have gathered to celebrate Alex.

The first thing I notice is that one of the stones diagonally behind Alex’s plot is a stone for YOUNG. This is my married name.

Then I was asked to take some photos so I walked around to the front and I see diagonally in front of Alex’s plot a memorial for FRAZIER –…

Not a moral issue 8/25

gracefuladdict's avatarThe daily addict

I am grateful for the doctors, psychologists, religious folk and every day people that went before me trying to figure out a “cure” for the alcoholic and drug addict.

Carl Jung happened to be one of those people. He understood that the alcoholic was not doing anything but seeking a connection with god.

This meant that it was not a moral issue. It was not due to ignorance, class, height, weight, color, where you came from or who you knew.

I drank and used drugs in an attempt to fill myself in search of a higher energy. It worked for awhile but the fix was only temporary.

Then when I was in rehab over 12 years ago I heard someone say “this is a disease that has a spiritual solution.” I knew – right then and there – this was about god.

Don’t get me wrong…I was in shock when…

Disability and Inflation in the UK

Kenneth's avatarBrain disorders & other General topics of the day

Many of us with all sorts of disabilities will be struggling with the high rate of inflation and cost of living, with many of us turning to Food Banks as well as having to cope with the rising cost of fuel for cars and homes. It is hard times for those on low incomes.

Hopefully the link below will be of some help

Kneeling at thy Feet

I came across this video a long time ago, unfortunately I cannot find a bible reference to match it nor can i find what I think are lovely words neither in the Salvation Army song book(s) nor on internet. However I can tell you the words were written by Lucy M. Booth who was born in 1868 and died 1953.

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Acts 6:1-10

During the August heat of 1891, R. G. Dyrenforth arrived in Midland, Texas, determined to blast rain from the sky. Known as a “concussionist,” he and his team launched and detonated huge balloons filled with explosive gases, fired cannons, and exploded piles of dynamite on the ground—shaking both earth and sky. Some believed he made it rain a little, but most said all he caused was noise. The explosive power was impressive but ineffective.

When the early church needed overseers, they sought people with a different kind of power. They chose “seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom” (Acts 6:3) to manage the daily distribution of food. One of those was Stephen, a man “full of faith and power, [who] did great wonders and signs among the people” (v.8). When disputes arose, those who argued with Stephen “were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke” (v.10).

The Bible makes it clear that Stephen’s spiritual effectiveness came from being filled with the Holy Spirit, who gave him the right balance of faith, wisdom, and power.

God’s Spirit in our lives today replaces the loud noise of self-interest with His gentle, life-giving rain.

Helping Others

Galatians 6:9-10 (NIV)

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Sometimes we fail to help people as we would like to, we shouldn’t give up trying, but keep doing good as scripture encourages us to do.

Little things from helping an elderly neighbour by getting shopping for them right through to seeing a stranger in need help.

You can be assured the Lord sees all these acts of kindness and he will see favour in us.
