Granting Peace

John 14:26-27 New International Version (NIV)

26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Grant us Thy Peace
Words: Ivy Mawby
Music: George Marshall

Softly the shadows fall o’er land and sea,
Voices of evening call, speaking to me,
Busy my hands this day,
Small time to think or pray;
Now at the close of day, I come to thee.

Lord, ’tis thy tender touch now we implore;Related image
Day with its toil is done, labour is o’er;
Now in the evening while shadows fall,
Grant us thy peace, who give to thee our all.

What can I bring to thee, fruit of today?
Have I walked worthily in work and play?
Lightened my brother’s load,
Walking life’s toilsome road,
New strength and love bestowed, master, I pray?

While the birds homeward wend, seeking their nest,
Thou who has called me friend, knowest me best;
Forgive if I should roam,
And grant that I may come
To find at last my home safe in thy breast.

Just looking over the words to the video I came to realise how powerful the words of this golden oldie Ivy Mawby had wrote to George Marshall’s music

I hope as you listen to it you will be blessed as I was.

Evil of Tarot cards

Acts 19 The Message

Witches Came out of the Woodwork

11-12 God did powerful things through Paul, things quite out of the ordinary. The word got around and people started taking pieces of clothing—handkerchiefs and scarves and the like—that had touched Paul’s skin and then touching the sick with them. The touch did it—they were healed and whole.

13-16 Some itinerant Jewish exorcists who happened to be in town at the time tried their hand at what they assumed to be Paul’s “game.” They pronounced the name of the Master Jesus over victims of evil spirits, saying, “I command you by the Jesus preached by Paul!” The seven sons of a certain Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were trying to do this on a man when the evil spirit talked back: “I know Jesus and I’ve heard of Paul, but who are you?” Then the possessed man went berserk—jumped the exorcists, beat them up, and tore off their clothes. Naked and bloody, they got away as best they could.

17-20 It was soon news all over Ephesus among both Jews and Greeks. The realisation spread that God was in and behind this. Curiosity about Paul developed into reverence for the Master Jesus. Many of those who thus believed came out of the closet and made a clean break with their secret sorceries. All kinds of witches and warlocks came out of the woodwork with their books of spells and incantations and made a huge bonfire of them. Someone estimated their worth at fifty thousand silver coins. In such ways it became evident that the Word of the Master was now sovereign and prevailed in Ephesus.

A few days ago you may recall I wrote a blog about ‘God and Spiritualism’ purely because a post had appeared on my Facebook news feed.

This time it was a video posted on my Facebook news feed of the Psychic Medium and Angel guide Emma Ryder Doing readings to people online

When I looked The Evils of Tarot Cards on the internet I discovered there are quite a lot, certainly more than I expected.

Though it’s not for me to judge fellow Christians in what they do, but tarots cards for me as a Christian is not something i’m prepared to waste my pass to heaven on.

He Lives

John 14 New International Version – UK

Jesus promises the Holy Spirit

15 ‘If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever – 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 1I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me any more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realise that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.’

22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, ‘But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?’

23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

25 ‘All this I have spoken while still with you.

28 ‘You heard me say, “I am going away and I am coming back to you.” If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

‘Come now; let us leave.

Romans 13:1-7 English Standard Version

Submission to the Authorities

13 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgement. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honour to whom honour is owed.

There Are No Words
There are no words there is no song
Is there a balm that can heal these
wounds that will last a lifetime long
And when the stars have burned to dust
Hand in hand we still will stand because we must
In one single hour in one single day
We were changed forever something taken away
And there is no fire that can melt this heavy stone
That can bring back the voices and the spirits of our own
All the brothers, sisters and lovers all the friends that are gone
All the chairs that will be empty in the lives that will go on
Can we ever forgive though we never will forget
Can we believe in the milk of human goodness yet
We were forged in freedom we were born in liberty
We came here to stop the twisted arrows cast by tyranny
And we won’t bow down we are strong of heart
We are a chain together that won’t be pulled apart
Some time last week I shared Matthew 24 1-14 where Jesus tells us there will be wars, earthquakes, disasters and in this case today being the anniversary of 9/11 terrorism etc. Some of us may question where was Jesus in all of this? The answer he says is he was with you all the time. We just have to have faith and believe in him.

Easter Monday

Image result for Easter egg hunt

The Bible makes no mention of Easter or Easter Monday. There is no requirement as a church to celebrate it, but there is prohibition either.

Easter Monday as we know is the day after Christ’s resurrection where he said for 40 days appearing to believers and giving ministry. He also healed the sick and proved to doubter’s he was the son of God.

Easter Monday, also called Bright Monday or Renewal Monday, is the beginning of Bright Week. It is common to douse people in water, representing the new life of baptism, and play games with Easter eggs. Such as Easter egg hunt or rolling your a hard boiled egg down a hill (which represents the stone being rolled away).
